Balance

Computer Arts, January 2012, Page 80

This is a piece made by Ryan Brinkerhoff using Adobe Illustrator. I would say that this piece definitely shows symmetrical balance through the hands being mirrored between the top and bottom of the design. You could also make an argument that this piece has radial symmetry with the "eye" of the camera being the focal point. The visual weight for this piece could be described as being stable with the hands holding the camera horizontally.

Color Harmony Rules

Communication Arts, Photography Annual 46, pg 83 ANALOGOUS Communication Arts, Design Annual 48, pg 115 COMPLIMENTARY Communication Arts, Design Annual 48, pg 44 MONOCHROMATIC Communication Arts, Photography Annual 46, pg 94 TRIADIC Each of these four compositions follow a different color harmony. The first composition follows an analogous color scheme with its use of green, blue-green, and yellow-green. The second composition follows a complimentary color scheme with its use of a red background and green shirt. The third composition follows a monochromatic color scheme through its use of different yellows. The fourth composition follows a triadic color scheme through its use of the primary colors.

Symbolic Colors

Computer Arts, January 2012, Page 67 This composition uses color through its symbolic meaning rather than color harmonies. The random colors inside the grid-like shapes tends to remind people of the video game, Tetris. All of these colors or shapes by themselves wouldn't have any meaning to it. But by combining the two together, the composition takes on a whole "new" meaning.

Non-Commercial Art

Computer Arts, January 2012, Page 125 This composition chooses to use a complementary color scheme through its use of light blue and orange. The composition also makes use of lines and triangular shapes by the "breaking" of the face. There is also a clear focal point made in the center of the composition. The piece is slightly tilted, yet still remains balanced.
