Balance

Computer Arts, January 2012, Page 80 This is a piece made by Ryan Brinkerhoff using Adobe Illustrator. I would say that this piece definitely shows symmetrical balance through the hands being mirrored between the top and bottom of the design. You could also make an argument that this piece has radial symmetry with the "eye" of the camera being the focal point. The visual weight for this piece could be described as being stable with the hands holding the camera horizontally.

Unity

Frank Stella, Lac Laronge IV, 1969 This is a piece from Frank Stella which is made with Acrylic polymer on a canvas. I would say that Unity is shown in this piece through proximity, continuation, and repetition. It has this basic oval shape that keeps repeating very close to each other. Because of this, it creates curved lines that actually continue throughout the piece.

Chaos/Variety

Computer Arts, January 2012, Page 16 This handpainted plywood sign comes from London, England by a guy named Robert Evans. While this sign has a pretty neat design, it has some random fonts and colors in each container. This causes me to view it as having lots of variety or being very chaotic. It makes me wonder why Evans chose yellow, brown, pink, orange, white and blue to represent positivity. Cool sign though.
