Unity

Frank Stella, Lac Laronge IV, 1969

This is a piece from Frank Stella which is made with Acrylic polymer on a canvas. I would say that Unity is shown in this piece through proximity, continuation, and repetition. It has this basic oval shape that keeps repeating very close to each other. Because of this, it creates curved lines that actually continue throughout the piece.

The first composition follows an analogous color scheme with its use of green, blue-green, and yellow-green. The second composition follows a complimentary color scheme with its use of a red background and green shirt. The third composition follows a monochromatic color scheme through its use of different yellows. The fourth composition follows a triadic color scheme through its use of the primary colors.
